Plymouth City Council has announced a proposed Traffic Regulation Order aimed at improving road safety around schools in the area. The order, titled "The City of Plymouth (Traffic Regulation Orders) (Amendment Order No. 2026.2137327 - Eden Valley Gardens) (School Streets) Order," seeks to prohibit motor vehicles, except authorised vehicles, from accessing certain roads during specific times.
The affected roads include Eden Valley Gardens, Ambleside Place, and Ravenglass Close. The restrictions will be in place from Monday to Friday between 8am and 9am, and again from 2:15pm to 3:30pm. These times coincide with school drop-off and pick-up hours, aiming to enhance safety for children and reduce congestion.
Residents and interested parties can view the full details of the order, including relevant plans and statements of reasons, on the Plymouth City Council website. Alternatively, hard copies can be requested by calling 01752 668000.
Those wishing to comment on the proposed order are encouraged to submit their feedback in writing to the Service Director for Street Services at Plymouth City Council or online via the council's website. Comments must be submitted by 7 July 2026, quoting reference Amd.2026.2137327 - Eden Valley Gardens.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by the council to promote safer streets around schools and encourage walking and cycling among students.
