Devon County Council has announced several temporary road traffic restrictions in Exeter, set to commence in July 2026. These measures are being implemented under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to facilitate essential utility works.

Victoria Park Road Closure

From 27 July 2026, a temporary prohibition of parking will be enforced on Victoria Park Road, Exeter. This restriction is necessary to enable a lead replacement scheme aimed at resolving water quality issues. The anticipated completion date is 21 August 2026. Redvers Road, Brunswick Street, and Cornwall Street Closures

Starting on 20 July 2026, Redvers Road, Brunswick Street, and Cornwall Street will experience a temporary prohibition of through traffic and parking. This is to allow the replacement of old metallic gas mains with new plastic mains. The expected finish date is 25 September 2026. Kings Road Closure

Kings Road will be closed from 29 June 2026 for similar utility works under a lead replacement scheme. The closure is expected to last until 7 August 2026. Alternative routes will be signposted via Thurlow Road to Morley Road, Elton Road, and Priory Road.

These restrictions are deemed necessary to ensure the safety and efficiency of the ongoing infrastructure improvements. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and follow the signed alternative routes where applicable.
