Devon County Council has announced several temporary road traffic restrictions set to take place in May 2026. These measures are necessary to facilitate essential works across various locations in Exeter.
Redvers Road, Exeter
A temporary prohibition of through traffic and parking will be enforced on Redvers Road from 25 May 2026. This restriction is expected to last until 5 June 2026. The closure is required to enable lead pipe replacement works. There is no alternative route available during this period. For further details, South West Water can be contacted at 0344 346 2020.
Athelstan Road, Exeter
From 18 May 2026, Athelstan Road will also experience a temporary prohibition of through traffic and parking. This restriction is anticipated to conclude by 12 June 2026. An alternative route for vehicles will be signposted via Denmark Road and Barnfield Road. The closure is part of a lead replacement scheme aimed at resolving water quality issues. Kier, on behalf of South West Water, can provide additional information at the same contact number.
Elm Grove Road & Bowling Green Road, Topsham, Exeter
Starting on 8 June 2026, parking will be temporarily prohibited on Elm Grove Road and Bowling Green Road between the hours of 8am and 5pm. This restriction is expected to end by 3 July 2026 and is necessary for the removal of vegetation to allow the installation of new fencing specifications. Sunbelt Rentals, acting on behalf of Network Rail, can be contacted for more information at 03700 500792.
These temporary restrictions are crucial for maintaining infrastructure and ensuring public safety during the execution of these projects. Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly to minimise inconvenience.
