Devon County Council has issued several important road traffic notices affecting various locations in Exeter and surrounding areas. These notices include temporary prohibitions of parking and through traffic, as well as a new speed limit order.

Cedars Road, Exeter

A temporary prohibition of parking will be in effect from 1 May 2026 for a maximum of 18 months, with an anticipated finish date of 22 May 2026. This restriction is necessary to facilitate gas mains replacement works. There is no alternative route available. For further details, contact Wales & West Utilities at 0800 9122999.

Abbots Road, Exeter

From 4 May 2026, Abbots Road will experience a temporary prohibition of through traffic and parking for up to 18 months, expected to conclude by 29 May 2026. An alternative route will be signed via Priory Road and Monkswell Road. This measure is required for lead replacement works. For more information, contact South West Water at 0344 3462020.

Monks Road, Exeter

Starting on 7 May 2026, Monks Road will also face a temporary prohibition of through traffic and parking until approximately 30 May 2026. The diversion routes include Pinhoe Road and Abbey Road. This restriction supports a lead replacement scheme. Kier is managing the project on behalf of South West Water; they can be reached at the same contact number.

Road Past Clarendon Farm, Perkins Village

A temporary prohibition of through traffic will commence on 25 May 2026 for up to 18 months, with an expected end date of 5 June 2026. The alternative route involves B3184-Marwood Lane-Marwood Road. This restriction is necessary to replace damaged verge protectors. Contact South Coast Traffic Management at 01202 697127 for additional information.

Dawlish Road Speed Limit Change

Devon County Council has introduced a new speed limit order effective from 1 May 2026. The order imposes a 30mph speed limit on Dawlish Road from Chantry Meadow to A379 Matford Roundabout and along the entire length of Lane to Matford Mill in Exeter and Teignbridge. Relevant documents can be viewed online or at Devon Libraries during opening hours.

These measures are part of ongoing efforts by Devon County Council to maintain and improve road safety and infrastructure across the region.
