Devon County Council has announced several temporary road closures in Exeter to facilitate essential infrastructure works. These restrictions are being implemented under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Redvers Road Closure

From 25 May 2026, Redvers Road in Exeter will be closed to all through traffic and parking. This closure is necessary to enable lead pipe replacement works. The restriction is expected to last until 5 June 2026, with no alternative route available. For further details, South West Water can be contacted at 03443462020.

Athelstan Road Closure

Athelstan Road will also experience a temporary prohibition of traffic and parking starting from 18 May 2026. This closure is part of a lead replacement scheme aimed at resolving water quality issues. The anticipated completion date is 12 June 2026. An alternative route for vehicles will be signposted via Denmark Road and Barnfield Road. Kier, on behalf of South West Water, can provide additional information at the same contact number.

Elm Grove Road & Bowling Green Road Parking Restrictions

From 8 June 2026, parking will be temporarily prohibited on Elm Grove Road and Bowling Green Road in Topsham, Exeter. This restriction is necessary to allow the removal of vegetation for new fencing installation. The work is scheduled between 8am and 5pm daily until 3 July 2026. Sunbelt Rentals, acting on behalf of Network Rail, can be contacted for more information at 03700 500792.

Residents and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and seek alternative routes where possible during these periods.
