It’s the most important meal of the day, so deciding where you have it and what you’re eating should not be taken lightly – and we are more than happy to help.
Hearty:
1. Parlour, Canada Square
Best for: Plenty of variations on the standard full English.
Our favourite: The London Market Breakfast (£15), which features cuts from renowned butcher Allens of Mayfair.
2. The Pearson Room, Canada Square
Best for: Breakfast fare with a luxurious twist , like wild boar sausages, toasted hazelnut and Canadian maple granola and 8oz steaks with eggs.
Our favourite: Eggs Hemingway (£10), mainly for the name.
3. Slug And Lettuce, Reuters Plaza

Best for: Straight forward morning munch with a twist.
Our favourite: Pulled pork in a spicy Tabasco sauce, topped with a fried free-range egg (£6.75).
4. Carluccio’s, Reuters Plaza
Best for: Starting your day in the Italian way.
Our favourite: Pane con Marmellata di fichi (£3.95), which is a selection of breads and preserves.
5. Sports Bar And Grill, Crossrail Place
Best for: A place to watch a bit of sport with your morning meal.
Our favourite: The Breakfast French fries (£2.45) because they make it acceptable to eat chips first thing.
6. All Bar One, Mackenzie Walk

Best for: A meeting with someone who isn’t familiar with the area : “Straight out the tube and to the right of the big expanse of water in front of you.”
Our favourite: Boost breakfast – portobello mushrooms, poached free range egg, plum tomatoes and avocado. Served on toast with hummus and sweet chilli sauce (£6.50).
7. Canteen, Canada Park Square
Best for: Those who like a park view when starting the day.
Our favourite: Hot banana, cinnamon and honey porridge (£4.50), especially for the winter months.
8. Davy’s Bar, Brasserie and Grill, Fisherman’s Walk
Best for: Simple, luxurious food.
Our favourite: Davy’s sausage sandwich (£5.95), which for nearly £6 we reckon must be pretty special.
9. Manhattan Grill, West India Quay

Best for: Local fishy food from Billingsgate Market.
Our favourite: The Billingsgate three-egg omelette (£9), with smoked salmon, crab and cocktail prawns. Sammy the seal would be all over this one.
10. Tom’s Kitchen, Westferry Circus
Best for: A relaxed morning brunch meeting.
Our favourite: Ham hock and mustard hash brown, poached egg, mustard sauce (£8).
Grab and Go:
11. Paul, Cabot Place Mall
Best for: A decent coffee and a good French pastry.
Our favourite: Escargot raisins (£1.80).
12. Starbucks, Jubilee Place Mall and Canada Square

Best for: A flavoured latte to go with the season.
Our favourite: Ham and Cheddar croissant (£2.99).
13. Chopp’d, Canada Place Mall
Best for: Healthy and filling breakfasts.
Our favourite: Cranberry and fig muesli (£1.95).
Healthy:
14. Pure, Canada Place Mall
Best for: Finding something you may not have tried before.
Our favourite: The bircher, (£2.35), which is a Swiss recipe of oats, apple juice and fat-free yoghurt.
15. Supernatural, Canary Wharf Tube station

Best for: Healthy juices.
Our favourite: Jamaica juice (from £3.95), with passion fruit, pineapple, lemon, ginger and apple.
16. CPRESS, Crossrail Place
Best for: Organic cold pressed juices and snacks.
Our favourite: Charged Up (£6.50), with carrot, pineapple, orange, lemon, lime and turmeric.
17. Leon, Cabot Place Mall
Best for: Hearty but healthy food and most of it is gluten free as well.
Our favourite: Poached egg pot with ham and truffle gruyère (£2.65).
18. Crussh, Canada Square

Best for: Alternative take-out options.
Our favourite: Dairy-free coconut yoghurt with bee pollen, agave maple, mint and raspberry (£2.25).
Bottomless Brunches:
19. Plateau, Canada Square Park
Best for: A lazy Saturday where you can take in Plateau’s pretty special view.
Our favourite: There is a burger on the menu. A burger for brunch. Yum. (Three courses, with unlimited Prosecco for £38).
20. One Canada Square, One Canada Square
Best for: A great big Saturday brunch with the girls or guys.
Our favourite: Surf and turf: 350g sirloin and half native lobster, béarnaise sauce, garlic butter, hand cut chips (£48).
21. Dr Kluger’s at The Breakfast Club, Crossrail Place
Best for: A boozy weekend brunch.
Our favourite: Kluger Bomb (£5), rum, lime, cherry, coco lopez – bombed in Prosecco.

Something a bit different
22. Chai Ki, Crossrail Place
Best for: Indian/British fusion.
Our favourite: Aloo Tikki Bun (£4.50), with spiced potato hash, fried egg, cheese and tamarind tomato ketchup.
23. Sticks’N’Sushi, Crossrail Place
Best for: A [Danish/Japanese] breakfast (the only place to have it in Canary Wharf).
Our favourite: The Nordic breakfast tray (£14) with homemade rye bread baked with miso, seaweed and coal (yes coal).

24. Cafe Rouge, Mackenzie Walk
Best for: French cooked breakfasts.
Our favourite: Pain perdu brioche (£5.95) classic egg dipped brioche with crème fraiche and honey.

25. Le Pain Quotidien, Jubilee Place Mall
Best for: Free-from stuff – vegan and healthy options.
Our favourite: Gluten free organic porridge vegan available (£4.25).
