The Department for Transport has announced a proposal to make an Order under section 247 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990. This order would authorise the stopping up of a southern part and northern part width of Wiverton Lane, consisting of highway verge at Plymouth, in the District of South Hams.

The proposed stopping up is intended to facilitate development as permitted by South Hams District Council under references 06/02036/OUT, 7_49/2426/06/O and 2058/23/ARM.

Copies of the draft order and relevant plan will be available for public inspection during normal opening hours at South Hams District Council, Follaton House, Plymouth Road, Totnes, TQ9 5NE. These documents will be accessible for 28 days starting from 14 September 2026. Interested parties can obtain these documents free of charge from the Secretary of State by quoting reference NATTRAN/SW/S247/6351.

Individuals wishing to object to the proposed order may do so by submitting their reasons in writing to the Secretary of State at nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk or via post to the Transport Infrastructure Planning Casework Unit, PO Box 1393, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE99 5FQ. Objections must be received by midnight on 12 October 2026. It is important to note that personal data and correspondence will be shared with the applicant or agent to consider objections. If individuals do not wish their personal data to be forwarded, they should state their reasons when submitting their objection.
