National Highways Limited has announced a temporary traffic restriction on the M25 motorway between junctions 25 and 24 in Essex. This measure is being implemented under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to facilitate essential roadworks.
The order will impose a 24-hour speed limit of 50mph on the anti-clockwise carriageway of the M25. The affected stretch extends from approximately 1395 metres east of Burntfarm Ride underbridge to approximately 2875 metres east of Cattlegate Road overbridge.
These restrictions are necessary to ensure road safety while embankment works, barrier repairs, drainage works, and other associated tasks are carried out. The works are scheduled to commence on Monday, October 12, 2026, and are expected to last for about one week.
The order will come into effect on October 10, 2026, and will remain valid for up to eighteen months or until the completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Traffic signs will be used to clearly indicate the speed limit during the work period.
