Hertfordshire County Council has announced several temporary road closures and restrictions across the county starting in September 2026. These measures are necessary to facilitate essential works such as telegraph pole replacements and remedial activities.
Warren Lane, Cottered
From 8 October 2026, Warren Lane will be closed for approximately two days to replace a telegraph pole. The closure spans 60 metres southeast from its junction with B1037. No alternative route is available, but access will be maintained where possible.
The Old Coach Road, Cole Green
Scheduled for closure on 2 October 2026 for one day, this road will be inaccessible from its junction with Hertingfordbury Road. An alternative route includes Hertingfordbury Road and A414 Cole Green Bypass.
Hoe Lane, Hertford Heath
This lane will close on 1 October 2026 for one day to replace a telegraph pole. The closure affects a stretch of 66 metres southwest from its junction with A119 London Road. Alternative routes are provided via Hoe Lane and A119 London Road.
Poles Lane, Thundridge
Poles Lane will be closed from 3 October 2026 for two days to facilitate telegraph pole replacement. The closure covers a distance of 100 metres northeast from its junction with Cambridge Road. Access will be maintained where possible.
Swanfield Road, Waltham Cross
Starting on 21 September 2026, Swanfield Road will be closed for two days for remedial works. An alternative route is available via Central Avenue and Gloucester Avenue.
Byde Street, Hertford
Byde Street will close from 21 September 2026 for five days due to remedial works. The closure affects a section northeast from Wellington Street. Alternative routes include Wellington Street and Molewood Road.
Marshalls Lane, Sacombe
On 18 September 2026, Marshalls Lane will close for one day to allow utility service works. An alternative route is available via Rowney Lane and Potters Green.
Vicarage Lane, Stapleford
Scheduled for closure on 19 September 2026 for one day due to vegetation removal and brickwork repairs. Alternative routes include Vicarage Lane and Sacombe Road.
Waiting Restrictions in Ware
New waiting restrictions are proposed in parts of Ware to improve road safety. These include sections of Trapstyle Road and Park Road. Objections or representations can be submitted by 8 October 2026.
