Hertfordshire County Council has announced several temporary road and footpath closures across the county under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. These closures are necessary to facilitate various utility and development works.

Footpath Closures

• Bengeo Rural: Footpaths Bengeo Rural 004, 003, and Sacombe 011 will be closed for utilities works from 28 September 2026 for up to one day. An alternative route is available via Bridleways 012, 005, 001, and 035.
• Buntingford: Bridleway Buntingford 013 will be closed from 11 September 2026 for up to six months due to development works. Pedestrians can use Buntingford 008 and 034 as alternatives.

Road Closures

• Nelson Street, Hertford: Scheduled for sewer cleaning works from 29 September 2026 for four days. Alternative routes include Wellington Street and Molewood Road.
• West End Road, Wormley: Closed from 30 September 2026 for three days for utility service works. The alternative route is via Church Lane and White Stubbs Lane.
• Hertingfordbury Road, Hertford: Utility service works will close this road from 29 September 2026 for three days. An alternative route is via St Marys Lane and A414 Cole Green Bypass.
• Cock Lane, Hoddesdon: Overhead cabling works will close this road from 28 September 2026 for twelve days. The alternative route includes Park Lane and Baas Hill.
• Priory Street, Ware: Drainage works will close this road from 28 September 2026 for fifty-four days. Alternative routes include Harriss Lane and Priory Road.

Additional Closures

Several other roads across Little Berkhamsted, Wormley, Cheshunt, Goffs Oak, Ware, Stanstead Abbotts, Tower Road in Ware, Park Road in Ware, Dark Lane in Cheshunt, and Crossbrook Street in Cheshunt will also experience temporary closures due to various works ranging from utility services to safety compliance checks.
