Hertfordshire County Council has issued several traffic notices affecting various roads across the county. These orders, made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, will see temporary closures and restrictions implemented to facilitate essential maintenance and improvement works.

Windmill Lane, Cheshunt

The council intends to close Windmill Lane in Cheshunt from the access road leading to ‘Cheshunt Country Walk’ car park westwards to the access road leading to ‘Cheshunt Station’ car park. This closure is necessary for level crossing maintenance works and will be effective from 18 October 2026 for one day.

Lord Street, Hoddesdon

Lord Street in Hoddesdon will be closed from its junction with Box Lane south westwards and north westwards for approximately 530m. This closure is due to cabling works scheduled to start on 21 October 2026 and expected to last two days.

Various Roads in Hertfordshire

Multiple roads across Haultwick, Dane End, Cottered, Braughing, Furneux Pelham, Barwick, Eastwick, Throcking, High Cross, Great Amwell, Buntingford, Stanstead Abbotts, Datchworth, and Hertford will experience temporary closures and waiting restrictions. These measures are required for various maintenance works starting from 19 October 2026.

Standon, Wellpond Green, Wormley, Widford and Hoddesdon

Roads in these areas will also face temporary closures due to scheduled works. The orders will come into effect from 19 October 2026.

Cautherly Lane, Great Amwell

Cautherly Lane will be closed for electrical repair works starting on 20 October 2026. The closure will last seven days.

Other Notices

Additional closures include Cavell Road in Cheshunt for gas main works starting on 19 October 2026 lasting for sixteen days; Beechwood Close in Hertford from 20 October 2026 for seven days; Warren Lane in Cottered from 8 October 2026 for two days; The Old Coach Road in Cole Green on 2 October 2026 for one day; Hoe Lane in Hertford Heath on 1 October 2026 for one day.
