Exeter Cathedral Enterprises Limited has submitted an application to Exeter City Council for a new premises licence under Section 17 of the Licensing Act 2003. The application pertains to Exeter Cathedral, located at 1 The Cloisters, Exeter, EX1 1HS.

The proposed licensable activities include the sale of alcohol for consumption both on and off the premises, the showing of films, performances of plays, and playing live and recorded music. These activities are planned to occur from 9am to midnight daily within the Cathedral buildings. Additionally, during the Christmas Market period and on up to 20 other days per year, these activities will also take place from 10am to 10pm on the Cathedral Green and Cloisters.

Furthermore, the application includes provisions for late-night refreshments inside the Cathedral buildings from 11pm to midnight every day. The premises are intended to be open to the public 24 hours a day.

Those who have any concerns or believe they may be adversely impacted by this application are encouraged to submit their representations in writing. These must be received by The Licensing Department at Exeter City Council no later than 25 September 2026. Representations should clearly state the grounds for objection.

The register of Exeter City Council and the record of this application can be inspected at the council's Civic Centre on Paris Street by prior appointment from Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm or viewed on the council’s website.

It is important to note that making a false statement in connection with this application is an offence punishable by an unlimited fine upon conviction.
