Devon County Council has announced several new traffic regulations and temporary restrictions affecting various areas across the county. These changes are part of ongoing efforts to manage road safety and improve infrastructure.

No Waiting and Loading Restrictions

The council proposes amendments under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce no waiting and loading zones at any time in several locations:

• Budleigh Salterton: Fore Street & High Street
• Clyst St George: Chapel Hill
• Colaton Raleigh: Hawkerland Road
• Colyton: Dolphin Street & Market Place
• Exmouth: Multiple roads including Claremont Grove, Elm Road, Exeter Road, and others
• Honiton: High Street (Tues/Sat 6am-9am)
• Lympstone: Jackson Meadow & Trafalgar Road
• Sidmouth: Ashley Crescent & Manstone Avenue
• Woodbury: The Arch

These restrictions aim to alleviate congestion and ensure smooth traffic flow. Residents can view detailed plans at devon.cc/alwrp and submit objections by 21 September 2026.

Temporary Traffic Restrictions

Several temporary road closures are planned to facilitate essential works:

• Franklin Street, Exeter: Closed from 21 September to 11 October 2026 for lead replacement works.
• A379 Kenton/Dawlish: Night closures from 21 September to 3 October 2026 for patching and lining works.
• School Road, Exeter: Closed from 28 August to 2 November 2026 for gas main replacements.
• Georges Close, Exeter: Closed from 1 September to 18 September 2026 for new supply works.
• Salisbury Road, Exeter: Closed from 21 September to 23 October 2026 for lead replacement.
• Elton Road, Exeter: Closed from 31 August to 18 September 2026 for lead replacement.

Alternative routes will be signposted where applicable. For more information on these closures, contact the relevant utility companies as listed in the notices.

Speed Limit Changes

A new speed limit order will introduce a 20mph limit on Days-Potties Lane in Exminster. This change is effective from 2 September 2026 and aims to enhance safety for all road users.
